2019 AAU Junior Olympic Games

GREENSBORO, N. C. – The 2019 AAU Junior Olympic Games are through their first three days of competition here in Greensboro, North Carolina. So far Powerlifting, Pickleball, Jump Rope and the All Sports Combine have completed their competition.
The Powerlifting saw 13 World Records shattered between its three events of squat, bench and deadlift. Arianna Salmond broke the record in all three events for her age group, pulling a 145 kilogram (319.67 lbs) deadlift.

Several Powerlifting athletes also pitted themselves against a wider range of athletes in the All-Sports Combine. The competition tested their strength, endurance, as well as speed. The largest age group was the boys 12-13 year old boys, where Nasir Madison came away with the overall gold medal.

Pickleball had its second year of competition at the AAU Junior Olympic Games. Athlete participated in both individual games and doubles.
Jump Rope also wrapped up on Saturday, July 27. Competitors took the floor in four different events, Individual, paire, three-person double dutch and four-person double dutch. The 13-14 year old girls had the high participation in the three-person double dutch division, and Kangaroo Kid’s Elyse Kim, Wayne Low and Emily Maddox jumped their way into a gold medal.

Currently on going in Greensboro are Trampoline and Tumbling, Karate, Sport Stacking, Track Mulit-Events and Swimming. Sport Stacking has seen its third highest turnout of all time, registering a total of 289 athletes from 37 states and five different countries. The event also saw its own record breaking feat in the men’s 19+ division with a speedy, 13.908 seconds.
