Houston, TX-Zachary Paliscak, a 12-year-old swimmer from Scottsdale, Arizona, broke the record in the 50 meter butterfly today at the AAU Junior Olympic Games swim meet with a time of 29.89 seconds. The previous record was set by Lugman El-Amin from Georgia in 2002 with a time of 30.43 seconds.
“Feels great! I love it—it was tough but I did it!” said Paliscak when asked what it was like to break the record today.
Paliscaks’ record was the only one broken so far at the 2012 AAU Junior Olympic Games for swimming.
